OUR STORY

ImagineHere is a nonprofit built on a story of friendship, passion, and a shared vision for change. Childhood friends Jovina Arulandu and Victoria Yu founded the organization at the ages 15, overcoming the challenges they experienced firsthand and seizing the opportunities they discovered.

During a car ride at the age of four, Jovina accidentally put a small stone in her ear. Her parents rushed her to the closest doctor in India, but an attempt to remove the obstruction with a Q-tip only pushed the rock further down, setting off years of medical interventions and surgeries—none of which repaired the damage done. Each doctor's visit left her with more questions than answers, sparking a passion that eventually grew into a dream of becoming a doctor herself, but she wasn't just drawn to the technical aspects; she wanted to help patients overcome similar traumas.

Victoria, on the other hand, grew up seeing the world though a creative lens. Her passion for art and design manifested in various ways, from creating detailed sketches to tinkering with mundane household items, transforming them into imaginative contraptions. When she learned of her childhood friend's struggles, she felt compelled to use her talents to take action, so she began auctioning her artwork to raise money for hardworking frontline heroes.

The summer before high school, Jovina discovered Victoria's efforts and recognized their mutual commitment to making a difference, leading them to join forces with the belief that together, they could take it one step further. Whether it was delving into the intricate machinery of the human body or exploring the creative process of building something new, ImagineHere is dedicated to turning their shared curiosity into action.

ImagineHere empowers children and communities through two core pillars: raising awareness of hearing loss and fostering curiosity and creativity. Through writing a children's book, hosting interactive workshops, or other outreach targetting underrepresented youth, ImagineHere seeks to ignite a lifelong love for learning and innovation.

Jovina and Victoria's shared vision is rooted in the belief that education and imagination can spark meaningful change, and looking back on their journey, they express how grateful they are for this whirlwind adventure. Together, they have proven that seemingly insignificant ideas can transform into widespread initiatives and cannot wait to see what ImagineHere grows into, ushering in a new era where health and innovation come hand in hand.
